Original SPIDER-MAN PRINTER'S TEST PROOF THEATRE POSTER With Correction Notes
This is a very rare uncut printer's proof poster! Printing of tests proofs has change over the years and this is a current description of the test proof method. Currently before a poster is printed in large quantities, the printer would first print a limited number of posters as "proof" posters. The printers would look over these proofs and make corrections as to color or cropping issues.
They would next print a new proof, and sometimes a series of proofs were needed before a final "approved" version was done. Once the final proof was printed, they would then print a number of "printer's test" posters which would then be distributed to everyone connected to the project, so that they could "sign off on it". They would then print the full run of "regular" posters. This is the first one in one of the early test proof printings and it has "M590201" printed at the bottom center, which was the job number.
After the corrections were noted, a second poster with "M590201B" at the bottom was printed. I have other test proofs listed from Spider-Man. Let me know if you can not find them in my listings. Note that this one-sheet measures 24 1/4" x 36", and it is printed on a high quality heavy weight paper stock that has "Imation Matchprint Digital Halftone Super White Base" printed repeatedly lightly on the back. A COUPLE TINY SCRATCHES ON RIGHT SIDE AND BOTTOM THAT ARE BARELY NOTICEABLE CLOSE UP, VERY VERY FINE CONDITION. NEVER DISPLAYED, NO PIN HOLES OR TAPE. BEING A DIGITAL PRINT IT IS VERY HIGH DEF. HIGH TECH DIGITAL PRINTING ON POLYCHROME PHOTO PAPER.RICK'S HOLLYWOOD WATERMARK IS NOT ON THE ACTUAL POSTER, THE BLACK DOTS IN THE CORNERS ARE MAGNETS HOLDING THE POSTER FLAT NOT PART OF THE ACTUAL POSTER.
