These, however are very rare indeed. You'll be hard pushed to find more of these and they just ooze coolness. I was told that they were removed from the Theatre Royal in Dumfries, Scotland. British 1930s theatre lamps made by Major, now rewired for use in domestic setting.
Images show one of a pair. They are in very similar condition although different marks in different places. Iconic design that looks very deco in style. Superbly engineered piece of history. It features a die cast ventilated body in gold with 360 degree directional bracket. All original parts (except new bulb holder and wiring) with original branded bracket nuts and filter holder. The light has been mounted to a wooden base so it sits comfortably on the floor but can obviously be hung from its bracket.
This list is for both lamps. There is a separate listing if you just want 1. Would look amazing in a loft setting or restaurant. For the sake of the listing I point out that this is a vintage item and therefore there are obvious signs of use. There are obvious scratches, nicks minor dents etc and areas where paint has worn. All defects are consistent with age and use and adds to the appeal of the item in my opinion. The condition overall is excellent.Lovely original lens with no major cracks or chips. Photos tell the story and are part of the description so please use this as a basis of condition.
The interior has been rewired with a ceramic E27 bulb holder for domestic use with bulbs up to 400w. Supplied with a 60w screw in bulb for domestic use. Comes with approx 2 metres of black/white cloth covered cable. Other stage lights for sale if after something smaller.
